About Koda...

NMP’s Echoes of the Black Dame, known as Koda, is the foundation female of my breeding program. Born on February 14, 2021, she is a striking  German Shepherd/Siberian Husky Mix with a sleek black coat accented by subtle white markings.

Standing at 24" tall and weighing approximately 60 pounds, Koda represents a powerful blend of athleticism, independence, and elegance.

With extensive health testing, Koda is Embark DNA tested and clear of all genetic health conditions. Her OFA evaluations include “Good” hips and “Normal” ratings for elbows, eyes, cardiac, and Legg-Calve-Perthes, confirming her physical soundness for future sport and working applications.

Koda carries a high but well-managed prey drive and has excellent recall—traits that reflect both her intelligence and responsiveness to training. While she enjoys companionship, she values her space and prefers interactions on her own terms in public settings, showcasing a confident and thoughtful temperament. She is incredibly handler-loyal, naturally balancing social awareness and calm leadership.

Her experience includes exposure to bikejoring, and starting in Summer/Fall 2025, she will begin formal training in Weight Pulling, Tracking, and Herding. Koda currently holds a Novice Trick Dog (NTD) title and will continue working toward Intermediate, Advanced, and eventually Expert Trick Dog titles as part of her versatile development.

Though not overly cuddly, she shares a strong, intuitive bond with her handler and demonstrates remarkable patience, even with unknown puppies ranging from 5 weeks to 9 months, giving fair corrections and teaching those around her. Koda offers a stable, balanced temperament with enough drive to build upon—making her an excellent foundation for pairing with higher-drive studs. Her presence is steady, intelligent, and deeply rooted in connection—a cornerstone for the high-drive, multifunctional working companions I aim to produce.
